NEW YOUTH GROUP

新青年剧团

The New Youth Group was founded by director Li Jianjun in 2011. Its name was specifically chosen to reflect the spirit of the 1915 New Culture Movement. The group is a very active independent theatre company in Beijing, making efforts to create “mortal theatre” and explore new theatre aesthetics by stepping into Chinese people’s contemporary life.
We believe that the theatre is able to cure the disease of life and our goal is to make the audience think about their real life. A Madman’s Diary (2011) premiered in Beijing and has been showed in Berlin and Tokyo.
